anything can get along with anything if introduced properly i have an 11 week old kitten and a 18 month old border terrier and they're best friends... except when she tries to steal his food, he gets along great with kids too! but get a small dog as a puppy because small dogs sometimes don't like big dogs as adults basically because they feel small! my dog gets on great with big dogs only if one of my family has said hello to it first, but he was half killed by a kerry blue so he cant trust big dogs now. you could get a border of course but they do chase sheep... a lot, but with everything except playful dogs big dark dogs and sheep hes unusually calm!, he does like his play though... and food!

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a great dog. They get along great with kids and other dogs. They are not big and they are cute and sporty. Here's a website where you can read about them.
